Saints vs. Seahawks: Biggest Winners and Losers from Monday Night Football
Well, let’s be honest, we should be happy that Week 7 of the NFL has wrapped up so we can move on to Week 8. This week’s game were less than stellar, which is me being as kind as possible. Blowouts, defensive battles, and gross prime time games made up the majority of the weekend.
In fitting fashion, the Monday Night Football game between the Saints and Seahawks was a perfect representation of this week’s games. With that being said, there were still winners and losers from the game. Let’s take a look at who came on top and who suffered on Monday night.
Any and all odds listed are via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Winners from Saints vs. Seahawks
The Manning Cast
The Manning Cast returned for the first time in a few weeks, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The best games for these types of broadcasts are when the action is almost non-existent, and that’s exactly what we had when the Saints and Seahawks faced-off in a boring affair.
Marshawn Lynch started things off by having one of the most electric performances on the Manning Cast to date, and Tom Brady, Sue Bird, and Drew Brees followed it up with strong performances. The whole idea of the broadcast has been a grand slam for ESPN.
UNDER Bettors
When the weather reports came out predicting rain, the total for Monday Night Football dropped to 42 as people began to pound the UNDER. Anyone who did just that, had a nice relaxing night of watching a winning bet.
It’s rare for an UNDER bet to be sweat-free, but tonight was one of those rare occasions. By halfway through the third quarter, you could’ve started counting your money.
Alvin Kamara
Alvin Kamara was the lone bright spot of the game. He racked up 51 rushing yards on 20 carries and added in 10 receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints running back continues to be one of the more dynamic players in the NFL.
Losers from Saints vs. Seahawks
Seahawks Running Backs
With Chris Carson out of the lineup, the Seahawks turned to Alex Collins and Rashasd Penny and they both disappointed. Collins racked up only 35 yards on 16 carries for an average of 2.2 per rush, and Penny was even worse, getting only nine yards on six carries.
Carson is at no risk of losing his starting job once he gets healthy.
Seattle’s Playoff Hopes
The Seahawks are now 2-5 on the season and they have a tall mountain to climb if they want to avoid missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017. If they want to make a run, they need Russell Wilson back as soon as possible because it’s clear that Geno Smith isn’t the answer.
Smith went just 12/22 for 167 yards and a single touchdown for the Seahawks. This comes just a week after fumbling the ball in overtime against the Steelers and handing them the victory.
All of Us
We’ve been spoiled this NFL season with the quality of prime time games, so we were due for a few stinkers. This one may have been the worst of all of them. Rain, lack of offense, sloppy play, penalties, missed opportunities. It was bad from start to finish.
For those of you who stuck with the game from start to finish, I salute you.
On the bright side, Thursday night’s game between the Packers and the undefeated Cardinals promises to be a good one.
