Michigan basketball has a ton of work to do if they want to return to their No. 1 seed and Elite Eight stature of last year. The team is 4-3 on the season and fresh off their second double digit loss of the year at North Carolina earlier this week.

The team is back in Ann Arbor with one of the mid-majors elite in town by way of San Diego State. The Aztecs are a top 10 defense, per KenPom and will give the Wolverines growing ball handler issue trouble on Saturday afternoon.

Here are the odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

San Diego State vs. Michigan Prediction and Pick

There are some very concerning signs for Michigan this season, namely their ball handling. After being top 60 in turnover rate last season, the Wolverines find themselves 272nd in this metric. Transfer guard DeVante' Jones has struggled early on, but there is some cause for optimism on Saturday afternoon against SDSU.

The team will be without their best guard defender Lamont Butler on Saturday which should open up the Wolverines offense a bit.

While I trust Michigan's offense to show signs of life on Saturday, I think we are in for a bit of a rock fight and the under is my best play. The Wolverines offense is not in a great place right now and the Aztecs play fantastic perimeter defense, allowing opponents to hit just 23% on three's while allowing foes to shoo them at a bottom 50 rate. Even without Butler, the possessions should be limited and full of tough shots.

On the other side, SDSU's offense is 114th, per KenPom and posting an effective field goal percentage of 45% so far.
