San Diego State vs. New Mexico Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 12
By Reed Wallach
San Diego scored their best win of the season, throttling San Jose State 43-27 at home with a new quarterback taking snaps in converted safety Jalen Mayden.
Mayden, a Mississippi State transfer, will try to secure the job with another win, this time on the road against New Mexico as a two touchdown favorite? Can he move to 2-0 as a starting quarterback after a massive game against SJSU and hand the Lobos an eighth straight loss?
Here are the odds for this Friday night Mountain West matchup:
San Diego State vs. New Mexico Odds, Spread and Total

San Diego State vs. New Mexico Prediction and Pick
Mayden was outstanding in his second career start, leading a 43-point outburst against a formidable San Jose State defense on an efficient 17/22, 268 passing yards and three touchdowns. Now Mayden faces a New Mexico defense that is trying to hold up arguably the worst offenses in the country.
The Lobos have scored more than 10 points once since the beginning of October and will run into a tough San Diego State defense that is 34th in EPA/Play this season and particularly strong against the run, ranking inside the top 25 in rush success rate.
New Mexico has a strong defense under Rocky Long, 26th in EPA/Play, and should be able to create a formidable game plan to slow down Mayden now that there is two weeks of game film on him.
I can't trust this New Mexico offense to do anything, but expecting a converted safety to cover two touchdowns isn't a great option either, leading me to the under.
