The Florida Panthers have won 11-straight games and are all but locked in as the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

There's no doubt that they're a great team, so I'm not going to make the argument that they're frauds, but I am going to advise you to not bet on them to win the Stanley Cup.

WynnBET currently has them listed second on the odds list to win it all at +500 (bet $100 to win $500), behind only the Colorado Avalanche (+325).

Hold onto your money, or at the very least, bet on a different team.

Florida Panthers Are a Bad Bet to Win the 2022 Stanley Cup

The Panthers are the most exciting team to watch in the NHL. They play a wide-open style of hockey that leads to plenty of goals in their games. The downside is, it also leads to plenty of goals against.

The Panthers rank 10th in goals against per 60 minutes this season, allowing an average of 2.8. While that doesn't seem too bad, they also rank 17th in high danger scoring chances allowed, leaving good offensive teams plenty of opportunities to score.

The trope of "defense wins championships" ironically holds true in the NHL more than any other sport nowadays. While the Lightning were known as an offensive powerhouse the past two seasons, they ranked in the top 10 in almost every major defensive statistic.

Finally, betting on the betting favorite to come out of the stacked Eastern Conference is a questionable move to begin with. That's especially the case with the new playoff format. If they Panthers get past the wild card team in the first round, they'll have one of the Leafs, Lightning, or Bruins to face in the second round. There won't be a single gimme for them the entire postseason like there usually is in most years.

Stay away from the Panthers. Save your money.
