The Seattle Seahawks are bracing themselves for a tough season and have used the preseason to acclimate themselves to the feel of a losing locker room. Pete Carroll’s team is 0-2 after getting blown out last week by the Bears, 27-11.

The Dallas Cowboys bounced back last week against the Chargers for a 32-18 win. That coming a week after a penalty ridden disaster. Mike McCarthy’s team is now 1-1 in the preseason.

Pete Carroll is still trying to decide on a starter for Week 1 of the regular season. Geno Smith and Drew Lock are engaged in a battle for that spot and both will likely play a half this week. Drew Lock missed the game last week due to covid.

Seahawks vs. Cowboys Prediction and Pick

Dak Prescott has yet to play in the preseason and will likely see a few snaps or maybe even a quarter this week. It appears that Dallas has waited for Week 3 to be the dress rehearsal. Some teams opted for Week 2, but Dallas has not seen their starting QB on the field. Even though Prescott will play some snaps, the backups behind him, Cooper Rush, Ben DiNucci and Will Grier have not impressed.

Last week, the points came from the rushing attack and notably, the return game. KaVontae Turpin returned a kick and a punt for a touchdown and accounted for 14 of their 32 points. That is not something to rely on this week.

Seattle’s offense will function much better with Drew Lock and Geno Smith likely taking all of the snaps. That quarterback competition is not decided yet and Pete Carroll will almost certainly want to see both guys with a similar supporting cast. That may mean some starters will play longer into the game to allow the coaching staff to evaluate both guys.

Even if Dallas uses this as a dress rehearsal, Seattle has much more to gain from this game and is a worthy favorite even on the road.

Pick: Seahawks -130
