Seattle Kraken vs. Philadelphia Flyers Prediction and Odds
By Matt De Saro
The Seattle Kraken will play their fourth game as a franchise against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight in Philly. For reference, The Flyers are playing their 4,172nd game in the NHL. The puck will drop at the Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. ET with the Kraken opening as +115 road dogs with a good shot at dropping Philly to 0-2 to start the year.
So far in their short existence, the Kraken have played well and have a win and two losses to show for it. Each of those games was decided by one goal so, even when they lose, they have kept it close. This will also be the Kraken’s fourth game in a row to start the season that will be on the road, as they have yet to make their regular season debut at home.
The Flyers won’t be quite as stretched out as the Kraken as this is just their second game of the season. In their opener, the Flyers lost 5-4 in a shootout against the Canucks on Friday night. It was a strong end to the game for Philly, who trailed 4-2 at one point.
Let’s look over the NHL odds at WynnBET Sportsbook for this early-season game against the Flyers and Kraken and pick a side to bet.

Kraken vs. Flyers Prediction and Pick
What can be said about the Kraken this early into their existence is that they have one hell of a goalkeeper. Philipp Grubauer is coming off a season with the Avalanche that saw him a finalist for the Vezina Trophy with less than 2.0 GAA and a save rate of .922. To start the year, Grubauer has a less impressive 2.99 GAA and .894 SV% but it’s the first week of the season so no jumping to conclusions yet.
Grubauer will be staring down Flyers goalie Carter Heart across the ice in this game. Hart, in his lone game this year, allowed four goals on 39 shots in what was not the season debut he was hoping for. He was also bested in the shootout. After a rocky start, he did hold the Canucks without a goal for the final 28 minutes of the game, but the damage was already done.
Behind the scenes, Kraken coach Dave Hakstol will be making his first appearance at the Wells Fargo Center since being fired as head coach a few seasons ago. I am sure this win would mean just that much more to him than most and I expect his team to get up for this game.
I was a little worried about the Kraken playing their fourth game on the road in a row, but to be honest, they haven’t ever played a regular season home game. So, is there really much advantage either way? Home crowd aside, this is almost a neutral site game for Seattle as the team hasn’t had time to grow an attachment to their home base and crowd.
I like Seattle in this spot as a road dog to win a big game for coach Haskol and head back to Seattle with a 2-2 W/L record on the season. There is no value on the puck line so let’s go big with the moneyline road dog tonight.
Prediction: Kraken to win +115 on the moneyline
