Seattle U vs. Utah Valley Prediction and Odds (Bet on a Redhawks Bounce Back)
By Matt De Saro
The Seattle University Redhawks and Utah Valley Wolverines take the court tonight in Western Atlantic Conference action at the UCCU Center.
The Redhawks are the second-ranked team in the conference with a 21-7 overall record. However, they come off a tough loss to New Mexico State 68-55 as 2.5 point underdogs. It was their second ATS loss in a row and the Redhawks are not 5-2 ATS in their last seven.
Utah Valley is also coming off a loss but are 3-2 in their last five and are 2-1 ATS in recent action. As home underdogs, they are also 2-1 ATS on the year. This game feels like a better matchup than the odds suggest but let’s dive a little deeper before we make any final decisions.

Seattle U vs. Utah Valley Prediction and Pick
While neither team is having much success, I think that the Redhawks are playing slightly better; even in their losing efforts.
The Redhawks have two recent wins that were very impressive. They beat Lamar by 26 points as 16.5 point favorites and Texas Pan-Am by 40 points as 6.5 point favorites. Neither of these two teams is all that good, but the Redhawks are still covered by a combined 43 points in just two games. When they lose, the margin of victory isn’t all that bad and sits at an average of six over their last five losses.
All this is to say that this team is full of fighters that don’t give up late in losing situations. This is evidenced by their ranking of 69th in the second-half scoring at 38.7 PPG. The Wolverines rank 218th in that same metric. Seattle U also is a better rebounding team, in the top 25 in free throw shooting percentage and ranking 39th in opponent effective field goal percentage.
I'll take the road team in this matchup to keep pushing long after the Wolverines take their foot off the gas.
Pick: Seattle -6 (-110)
