As is tradition, the 2023 PGA Tour calendar year begins with the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Plantation Course in Hawaii.

The tournament features all tournament winners from the 2022 calendar year, as well as anyone who qualified for the Tour Championship last year without winning an event. The only notable name who will not be competing this week is Rory McIlroy.

Let's take a look at the odds for the event, and then I'll give you my best bets.

Let's get 2023 started off right!

Sentry Tournament of Champions Best Bets

Jon Rahm +650

Yes, I'm taking the betting favorite. Call me a square all you want, but this is one of the few times that I'm willing to take the favorite in a golf tournament.

Just in case you've stopped paying attention to golf since the Tour Championship, let me catch you up on how Jon Rahm has performed since then:

  • Spanish Open - 1st
  • CJ Cup - T4
  • DP World Tour Championship - 1st
  • Hero World Challenge - T8

Not a bad run of events. He's also finished in the top 10 all five times he's competed in the Tournament of champions, including a second-place finish last year. It's all adding up for Rahmbo to start the season off with a win.

Cameron Young Top 10 +100

One of the most important areas you have to succeed in to perform well at Kapalua is driving distance. Well, Cameron Young ranked third on the PGA Tour in driving distance last year, averaging 319.3 yards off the tee.

He's also coming off a third-place finish at the Hero World Challenge, so last season wasn't just a one-off hot streak.

It's his first time competing at this event, so I'm going to be relatively conservative with him and just wager on him to finish in the Top 10 at +100.

Tom Kim Top 10 +140

What are we doing here doubting the young GOAT, Tom Kim?

He exploded onto the scene at the end of last season and he carried that momentum into the fall swing, winning the Shriners Children's Open. He ranks sixth in total strokes gained, strokes gained: approach and 28th in strokes gained: putting.

Just like Young, Kim hasn't played this event before so we're just going to bet on him to finish in the top 10 at +140. He's too talented to not take a shot on him in this spot. The age of Tom Kim has arrived.
