It’s been a busy summer already for Nick Nurse and his Philadelphia 76ers Summer League team.

Nurse coached the team for part of their time in the Salt Lake City summer league where they went 1-2 and they are now 2-2 after a 110-101 win in the Las Vegas summer league where they are coached by Dwayne Jones.

The Dallas Mavericks have played just one summer league game and are 0-1 in Vegas. The Mavs lost 91-80 to OKC. However, Dallas is favored against Philly tonight, so let’s get into the odds for this Summer League matchup.

Sixers vs. Mavericks prediction and pick

The 76ers struggled a bit in Utah, but had a nice showing in Vegas. The extra preparation and time together is likely paying off in terms of wins in Summer League.

The 76ers have a much more veteran and experienced team led by Jaden Springer who was the NBA G League Finals MVP and will be entering his third year as a pro. Against the New York Knicks, Springer had 23 points and three assists in 32 minutes.

Because the 76ers had no picks in the 2023 NBA Draft, they are a very old team. They do have a rookie trio of Ricky Council IV, Azoulis Tubelis and Terquavion Smith, but all three played multiple years of high-major college basketball. That is valuable in the Summer League and is exactly the type of team to back.

The Mavericks have a few more recognizable names to those interested in the NBA draft, but Dereck Lively II is 19 years old and scored just four points in his Summer League debut and Olivier Maxence-Prosper had seven points with zero rebounds and zero assists in 17 minutes.

Jaden Hardy had 24 for Dallas in its loss, and he’ll be happy to take just about every possible shot available to him all summer. I’m not really interested in trusting Hardy to win me a bet all by himself.

I like the unit that Philly has put together, and I’ll trust its experience.

Pick: Sixers +140
