South Carolina vs. George Washington Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, November 30 (Fade Gamecocks)
By Peter Dewey
The South Carolina Gamecocks and first-year head coach Lamont Paris are off to a slow start this season, and they’ll look to turn things around against the George Washington Colonials and their first-year head coach Chris Caputo.
The Gamecocks are by far the best team the Colonials will have faced this season, and that’s saying something since South Carolina is just 3-3 with losses to Furman, Davidson and Colorado State.
George Washington is favored in this game, but KenPom actually projects this as a one-point loss for the Colonials. The team has been terrific on offense (17th in the country in effective field goal percentage), but it ranks 263rd in adjusted defensive efficiency.

Senior guards James Bishop and Brendan Adams lead the way for the Colonials this season, and I think the team’s efficient offense (ninth in the country from 2-point range at 61.4 percent) is the difference in this game.
The Gamecocks are 302nd in the country in effective field goal percentage, and they have scored 60 or fewer points in four of their six games. They’ve really struggled against better competition, and they only beat South Carolina State by three points earlier this year.
The Colonials are 4-2 this season, but they haven’t lost a game by more than five points. Even though they don’t force a ton of turnovers on defense, I don’t think they’ll have much trouble with a poor shooting South Carolina team.
The Gamecocks have been blown out by Furman and Colorado State, two superior shooting teams, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they fall victim to a similar scenario tonight.
