South Dakota State vs. Oral Roberts Prediction and Odds for Monday, December 19 (Expect Track Meet in Tulsa)

We’ve got Summit League basketball on Monday night as the 9-3 Oral Roberts Golden Eagles host the 5-7 South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
Last time out, Max Abmas and ORU had a bit of a scare against Missouri State, but got the win, 80-77 for their sixth straight victory. That winning streak will be put to the test against the Jackrabbits who have won back-to-back games for the first time since mid-November.
The high-powered offense of the Golden Eagles has them as near double-digit favorites tonight. Here are the odds for this Summit League matchup.

Oral Roberts is incredible at the offensive end with Max Abmas and Connor Vanover. They play at a very fast pace, 36th in KenPom’s Adjusted Tempo, and they score 85.3 points a night, 9th most in the country. Abmas is averaging 20 points a night and his shooting has improved lately to get him to that number, after an uncharacteristically slow start to the year scoring.
South Dakota State seems like a team that could potentially keep pace with the Golden Eagles’ run-and-gun style. They’re 106th in the country in possessions per game, a fairly good indicator of offense, but they’re 144th in adjusted tempo, and over their past three games, they’re well under 70 possessions a game. Their pace has slowed dramatically and would rank 271st in the country. They’re one of the best teams in the country in free-throw percentage, so if they can hang around then they’ve got a shot late in the game if they’re getting to the line, but I expect Oral Roberts to run them out of the gym early.
Abmas and Oral Roberts are just too lethal on the offensive end to be slowed down by a team that is 276th in points allowed. Oral Roberts wins big and runs away with this one.
