The No. 10 Houston Cougars welcome their ACC rival South Florida Bulls to the Hofheinz Pavillion tonight in an important conference matchup. Well, it’s important to one of these teams at least.

The Cougars currently leads the ACC with a spotless 4-0 record and can distance themselves from the pack further with a win over a struggling USF squad.

The Bulls enter Tuesday night with a 6-10 overall record and are just 1-3 in conference play. On a positive note, USF is coming off an underdog win over rival UCF which snapped their four-game losing streak. Houston, meanwhile, won their seventh game in a row.  One of those games was against this same USF team which the Cougars won by 17 points against a 14.5-point spread. The bookmakers reacted strongly to that loss and have opened this game with an 18-point spread in favor of the home team.

South Florida vs. Houston Prediction and Pick

The Bulls were beginning to look like a defeated team before their win over UCF over the weekend. They closed as eight-point underdogs and absolutely throttled the Knights 75-51. There are bounce-back games and there is a, "kick down the door cause we are tired of losing" games. That 24-point win definitely falls into the latter category.

So, while USF is still a team looking for answers, that win showed me that they are at least capable of playing at a high level. The last time these two teams played, the Bulls did not play to a high level and shot less than 38 percent from the field. They were also beaten on the boards, and it's worth noting that the Bulls actually led by nine at one point in that game but collapsed as the game progressed.

The major issue that the Bulls have is their offense is red-hot garbage. They rank 348th in points per game and 126th in offensive rebounds. Their defense is actually pretty good and ranks 26th in the country. But, they are not good enough to make up for a team that can’t buy a bucket.

Considering that Houston has a top 10 scoring defense, this is a huge problem for the Bulls’ chances to come away with another upset win here. The Bulls haven’t done well in games following a SU win with a 4-12 ATS record in their last 16. I think the Cougars again come out and smoke the Bulls to cover this large spread.

Pick: South Florida -18 (-110)
