Southern Miss vs. Louisiana Tech Prediction, Odds, Against Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 12
By Matt De Saro
The 1-9 Southern Miss Golden Eagles are having a dreadful season and remain witness in Conference USA. The Eagles take an eight-game losing streak into Joe Allet Stadium on Friday night to take on the (3-7) Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Neither team has a shot at the Conference USA West Division so this game will be for pride and bragging rights.
The Eagles did play one of their best games of the season and almost upset undefeated and ranked UTSA last weekend. After going into the fourth quarter tied at 17, the Roadrunners eventually pulled away for a 27-17 win. The Golden Eagles held UTSA to just one touchdown for most of the game and picked off Frank Harris twice.
Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech was able to snap a five-game losing streak last week by beating Charlotte 42-32. Marcus Williams Jr. led the offense with four rushing touchdowns and 131 yards on 29 carries.
Quarterback Aaron Allen added two touchdowns and 324 yards through the air. The win leaves the Bulldogs with a 2-4 record in the conference and ties them with the Rice Owls for the second-worst team in the division.

Southern Miss vs. Louisiana Tech Prediction and Pick
This game is a bit harder to predict after USM nearly beat UTSA last week. At first glance, there is no reason that the game was so close for three quarters. But, it was a sneaky change at quarterback that almost led to the upset.
Frank Gore Jr, a running back for the Golden Eagles, started at quarterback against the No. 23 team in the country. It was a wild call but it almost worked. UTSA was caught off guard after game-planning for a different quarterback all week. Gore ended the day with 123 yards rushing and a touchdown on 20 carries. He added 33 yards with two passes before leaving with an injury in the second half.
The thing is coach Will Hall will have to pull another rabbit out of his hat because the same trick won’t work twice. The Golden Eagles are still the worst team in this division and maybe the entire conference. Not only are they losing straight up, but they also have covered just twice all season, against Grambling State in Week 2 as a 23.5 point favorite and last week as a 32.5 underdog against UTSA.
They have yet to cover a spread of more than 17-points and I don’t think that is going to change this week. I think last week’s effort against UTSA was this team’s last stand and LA Tech will cruise to an easy win.
Pick: Louisiana Tech -17.0 (-110)
