Miami looked the part of an ACC contender in their opening game, throttling Bethune-Cookman 70-13.

The Hurricanes schedule gets slightly more difficult with Southern Mississippi coming to Hard Rock Stadium, as the team prepares for their Week 3 matchup against Texas A&M. How should we bet this one with a top 10 opponent on deck?

Here are the odds from FanDuel Sportsbook:

Southern Mississippi vs. Miami Prediction and Pick

Mario Cristobal got his team off to a strong start against Bethune-Cookman, but how much is replicable against a FBS foe? While Southern Mississippi is still a low end team, I don't expect the Hurricanes to hang 70 on them again.

I actually lean towards the under in this matchup for a few reasons. First, as I alluded to earlier, the Canes have Texas A&M on deck. Once the team reaches cruising altitude, I expect Cristobal to pull the likes of Tyler Van Dyke and get ready for next week in College Station.

Miami played at a slow pace in Week 1, similar to how Cristobal played at Oregon, running only 66 plays, which would rank outside the top 80 nationally. There can be a vanilla call sheet for Week 2 and a methodical tempo to the Hurricanes offense.

Not to mention, Southern Mississippi resorted to trotting out wildcat QB from the end of last season, Frank Gore Jr., in overtime against Liberty last week. Whether the Golden Eagles get a true QB back or not, there is going to be a ton of emphasis on the ground game against the Hurricanes.

With the game clock rolling, I'm going to lean towards the under in this lopsided matchup.
