Western Conference Rivals, the Spurs and Mavericks, will duke it out in Texas at the American Airlines Arena on Thursday night. 

The Mavericks sit at 2-1 on the season after losing their season-opener to the Hawks. The Mavs rebounded well to beat the Rocket and Raptors and currently lead the Southwest Division. 

The Spurs have had less success so far this season with a 1-3 record entering this game. The Spurs opened the season with a win over the Magic bug have since dropped three straight to the Bucks, Lakers, and Nuggets and rank 3rd in the Southwest Division.

Spurs vs. Mavericks Prediction and Pick

The Dallas Mavericks will be hoping that Kristaps Porzingis will be able to go tonight. The Unicorn has been dealing with back tightness and if he is unable to suit up, the Spurs have a much better chance at winning this game. It will give Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson some breathing room and hopefully snap them out of their slow starts. To be fair to the Spurs and their struggles early on, they have faced some harsh competition including former league MVPs in each of their last three games. 

If Porzingis is unable to go tonight, that will put a lot more pressure on Luka Doncic to step up and carry this team. Luckily, he is one of the best players in the world right now and is more than capable of handling the Spurs. This line will drop if Kristaps is ruled out but I think that Doncic is enough for the Mavs to cover against a Spurs team still working out some early season kinks. If KP6 does play, even better.
