The San Antonio Spurs are on the road tonight as one of the worst away teams in the NBA this season. The Spurs are just 10-17 on the road and have lost two of their last three away from home. Now, the Spurs will be trying to win back-to-back games for the first time since mid-December. The New Orleans Pelicans, meanwhile, are coming off a loss to the Heat at home and have gone 5-5 in their last five games. The Pelicans are currently 16 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies in the Southwest Division and have a 23-33 overall record so far this year. Not a great thing from either side to be honest. But, there is still value in betting on this game and I’ll show you why.

Spurs vs. Pelicans Prediction and Pick

Despite picking up a win on the road last night over a strong Atlanta Hawks team, the Spurs are still a team that struggles on the road. Making matters worse is the fact that their offense has been playing awful over the last week. Two of their last four games saw the Spurs fail to score above 95 points in either. While I am aware that the Pelicans are a pretty bad team too, they are winners of four of their last five games and have been playing strong defense over that stretch. The Pelicans’ defense now ranks in the top 15 in defensive scoring, opponent's points in the paint, and opponent's fastbreak points. The Pelicans also rank third in defensive rebounds per game while the Spurs rank 23rd.

On top of their low quality of play, the Spurs are also on the second half of a back-to-back and won't be as fresh as they usually are. I am willing to bet that the tenacious Pelicans defense and their work on the defensive glass will be enough for them to cover tonight at home.

Pick: Pelicans -6 (-10)
