Spurs vs. Timberwolves Prediction and Odds for Monday, October 24 (Spurs Undervalued to Start Season?)
By Peter Dewey
The San Antonio Spurs have been a pleasant surprise early in the 2022-23 season, winning outright in their last game as 13-point underdogs against the Philadelphia 76ers.
San Antonio is 2-1 on the season, and will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis on Monday night. The Wolves are playing the second leg of a back-to-back after beating, and narrowly covering against the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-106 on Sunday.
Minnesota has been gifted an easy start to the season with two games against OKC, the Utah Jazz, and now the Spurs; all of which are expected to be at or near the bottom of the Western Conference.
Still, there could be some value here with some teams (like Utah) overachieving out of the gate.
Here are the odds for Monday’s Spurs-Wolves matchup:

Spurs vs. Timberwolves Prediction and Pick
Gregg Popovich’s team put up a clunker in its season opener, but since then the Spurs have played much better, holding off the Indiana Pacers in a shootout before their shocking upset of Philly on Saturday night.
I like this Minnesota team with Rudy Gobert in the fold, especially defensively, but we’ve seen Karl-Anthony Towns start slow so far this season (just 54 points in three games).
Minnesota wasn’t great in the second leg of back-to-backs last season, going 5-7-1 against the spread, and it’s just 1-2 ATS this season despite being heavily favored in every game. The Spurs may not win this matchup, but I at least think they can compete with some of their young talent.
Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and others are all getting a chance to showcase themselves, and the Spurs are currently ninth in the NBA in offensive rating while playing at the No. 5 pace in the league.
That offense should be enough for them to at least hang around with Minnesota.
