If you're a college basketball fan, you're going to want to watch the Big East conference this season. As conference play is starting to begin, the combined record of the conference is 89-24.

Almost any team in the conference could be crowned champions at the end of the regular season, and a handful of them are candidates to make deep tournament runs come March. One of those teams that you should keep an eye on is St. John's.

Before we dive into that, let's take a look at the latest odds to be the Big East regular season champion, courtesy of WynnBET.

St. John's is a Dark Horse Contender

At +1500 (bet $100 to profit $1,500), you won't find a better dark horse bet in the Big East than St. John's.

The Red Storm are 8-2 so far this season, with their only losses coming in a two-point defeat to Indiana and a tough outing to No. 8 Kansas. Outside of those two losses, they've won every game that they were expected to, and should be primed to perform come time for their conference schedule.

It's not just their record that's promising, but their stats show proof that they should be taken seriously. They rank 15th in the country in effective field goal percentage at 56.1% and 38th in offensive efficiency.

They've also been solid defensively, ranking 90th in defensive efficiency.

In what should be a competitive and wide open Big East, keep an eye on this school from New York City.
