The St. John’s Red Storm are back on the road tonight for a Big East brawl against the UConn Huskies at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.

The Red Storm are coming off an 83-73 loss to Providence on the road and have lost two of their last three overall. St. John’s was ultimately let down by their defense against the Friars who shot over 50 percent from the floor and dominated the defensive glass.

While their offense did their job, the defensive effort must be better if the Red Storm hopes to get back into the win column. UConn, meanwhile, is also on a bit of a skid after losing three of their last five games. The Huskies are also coming off a loss because of a terrible defensive effort.

Here are the odds for this Big East matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

St. John's vs. UConn Prediction and Pick

The Red Storm enter this game as sizable underdogs looking for their second win in conference play. They were able to secure a SU and ATS in their conference opener against DePaul but have covered the spread in just four games so far this year.

While they do have one of the best players in the conference in Julian Champaigne, he will need some help if the Red Storm has a shot at an upset here. Posh Alexander is the number two guy on the offense, but he got little help from Champaigne (5-for-19 from the field) against Providence.

The Huskies are led by R.J. Cole who is playing very well and has scored 14-plus points in four straight games. He has a tendency to be inconsistent but has found his shot lately and is averaging 16.2 points per game and 4.6 assists per game. The Huskies, despite a 10-4 record, have struggled in conference play and really need a win here as the eighth team in the Big East.

While the Red Storm are big underdogs here, their offense is capable of putting up points against just about anyone. UConn is not the best defensive team and gives up a ton of shots from downtown.

Considering the Red Storm shoot over 35 percent from deep, the Huskies defense could be a problem. While I think the Huskies still win this game, a double-digit cover will be harder than it seems tonight.

Pick: St. John’s +11 (-110)
