A pair of Atlantic 10 rivals clash at the John M. Belk Arena tonight as the Davidson Wildcats and St. Joseph’s Hawks do battle. I use the term rivals loosely as the Wildcats are first in the conference while the Hawks are ninth. While they are coming off a win, the Hawks haven’t won back-to-back games since December. I don’t expect that to change tonight as 12 point underdogs.

Here are the odds for this A-10 matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

  • Davidson -12 (-110)

St. Joseph's vs. Davidson Prediction and Pick

While they are not known as a powerhouse program, Davidson has been one of the most surprising success stories to come from a mid-major team. They have won 19 of their last 20 games and even managed to upset Alabama who was ranked 10th at the time. The Wildcats have already beaten the Hawks once this year 88-73 in January as 4.5 point favorites. It seems the oddsmakers learned from that mess of a game and have the Hawks double-digit dogs here. One knock on Davidson is that they are struggling to cover games lately and are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games.

The Wildcats offense is their bread and butter and ranks seventh in effective field goal percentage and fourth in three-point shooting. Their defense isn’t anything to write home about, but it will be more than enough to keep them well ahead in this game. The Hawks offense is scoring just over 70 points per game and rank 114th in effective field goal percentage and shooting just 67.4 percent from the charity stripe.

If Davidson comes out and plays the way they did last time, they should easily cover this spread. They dominated the Hawks already once this year and are a great home team with a 9-1 record in their last 10. The Hawks are just 2-18 in their last 20 on the road and I don’t see success in their near future.

Lean: Davidson -12
