Steph Curry Injury Update Is Ominous Sign for Warriors' NBA Championship Chances
By Peter Dewey
Game 3 of the NBA Finals could not have gone worse for the Golden State Warriors.
Not only did the Warriors lose to the Boston Celtics to fall behind 2-1 in the series, but superstar Steph Curry injured his foot once again in the loss.
Curry expects to play in Game 4, but if the injury is similar to the one he suffered earlier this season, it's going to be hard for him to be as effective as he's been to start this series.
Curry was injured on a loose ball play with Al Horford landing on his foot. Celtics guard Marcus Smart bumped into Curry while trying to grab the ball, and the Warriors superstar got contorted in a weird way. It's shocking he wasn't injured even worse on this play.
When Curry injured his foot earlier this season, he missed the final 13 games of the Warriors' regular season. He returned for the playoffs, but he came off the bench in the first few games against the Denver Nuggets.
Obviously, in the NBA Finals, Curry is going to try and play through the pain. However, the Warriors need him to be other worldly in order to stay in this series. Despite Curry averaging 31.3 points per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 48.6 percent from beyond the arc, the Warriors are down 2-1 without home court advantage in the series.
The Celtics are -225 at WynnBET Sportsbook to win the series. They have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 lead at home in Boston in Game 4 on Friday.
Curry isn't expected to miss a game in this series unless the injury gets worse, but it's concerning for any Warriors bettor that he's at less than 100 percent in a series his team is already trailing.
