After one of the roughest months of his career, Stephen Curry appeared to be back in form last night in Houston.

Curry finished with 40 points, 9 assists, 7 threes and only one turnover. In his masterful performance, he erupted for 21 points in the fourth quarter and led the Warriors to their sixth straight win.

January was a rough month for Curry. He was shooting close to 32.9% from three and had multiple games under 15 points. He went into the month as the front runner for the MVP and left outside of the top 3.

WynnBET currently has Curry’s odds to win the award at +450, behind Joel Embiid (+200), Giannis Antetokounmpo (+300) and Nikola Jokic (+350). Yet with his performance against the Rockets, Curry shot his way back into the conversation.

Curry desperately needed a game like the one he had last night. Against the short-handed Nets, he scored 19 points and went 3-for-10 from downtown – on Saturday Night Primetime. The #legacy jokes were writing themselves. His 40-point game last night gave ended the month on a high note, gave him momentum heading into February and created a clean slate for the rest of the season.

Normally what holds players back from receiving the award is the team success aspect, but Curry has that. The Warriors are the No. 2 seed in the Western conference and are only three games back from the Suns. It’s his stats that have been the difference.

If he can return to form over the last two months of the season, everyone will forget how bad his January was. As Antetokounmpo and Jokic begin to slip as well, don’t be surprised to hear Curry’s name reinserted into the middle of the MVP conversation.
