Sunday Night Football Analyst Picks for Saints vs. Buccaneers: It's Drew Brees vs. Everyone Else
By Ben Heisler
Here at BetSided, we keep track of the Football Night in America team for their straight-up picks.
This is now Game No. 17 since the NFL season began with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. Note that for the Thanksgiving game, there were no analyst predictions made for the game.
On Sunday Night Football this week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to avenge one just three losses on the season when they host the New Orleans Saints. The two NFC South division foes last met back in Week 8, when the Saints were dominant in the Superdome 36-27.
While the spread may have moved a half a point back and forth from where it opened at Bucs -11, the line closed right where it first opened, with slight juice on Tampa Bay (-115 odds) relative to New Orleans (-105). With Tampa Bay undefeated at home and just 5-1 ATS in their stadium, it's no surprise that both the bets and money were on their side. 63.7% of the betting tickets came in on the Buccaneers, as well as 74% of the betting handle.
Meanwhile, a few bets came in on the Saints side for a huge double digit upset. After opening at +425 on the moneyline (bet $100 to profit $425), 10.8% of the betting tickets are on New Orleans to sweep the series. However, just 8.8% of the handle is backing that play.
Lastly, the total creeped down from 46.5 to close at 45, with almost unision between both betting tickets and money bet. 77% of the tickets came in on the OVER, with 79% of the money backing OVER 45. That likely signals some reverse line movement on the UNDER due to the line moving down a point and a half, but significantly more of the money coming in on the OVER.
