Suns Should Be Sole NBA Finals Favorites

The Phoenix Suns got one of their two stars back last night and ran the Miami Heat – the best team in the Eastern conference – out of the gym.

WynnBET currently has the Suns as co-favorites for the NBA title with the Warriors (+425). That shouldn’t be the case. Phoenix should be alone at the top of the odds standings.

The Suns have been the best and most consistent team all season long. They are second in defensive rating, first in net rating and fourth in offensive rating. In this stretch without Devin Booker or Chris Paul, they went 3-1 and acted as if nothing was wrong.

Phoenix has proved that last year’s Finals run wasn’t a fluke. Every other team in the league has searched for its identity this season, while the Suns came into the year knowing who they were.

Their counterpart, the Warriors, have lost seven of their last 10 games and look like a team that is on the other side of the hill. Maybe all that changes once Draymond Green comes back. Maybe Golden State is waiting for the playoffs to form back into the best team in the league. Regardless of what their issue is, they have not looked good recently.

The Suns are the only team to clinch a playoff spot right now. That is how far ahead of the league they are.

If the Suns continue to win, especially without Chris Paul, then they should be by themselves as the sole favorites to win the title when the playoffs begin.
