$7.6 billion dollars.

That's the estimated number of money that will be bet on Super Bowl LVI this year according to the American Gaming Association.

Even more remarkable? That number is up $3.33 billion, or 78% from just a season ago when the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers matched up in Super Bowl LV!

It's also estimated that a record number of American adults plan to put a wager (or two) on the game this year. AGA (The American Gaming Association) expects the number to be near 31.4 million.

However, if you're one of the unlucky ones that don't have legal sports betting options in your state, fear not! There are still plenty of great Super Bowl party games you can play amongst your group.

Super Bowl Squares

The classic Super Bowl party game is squares!

To participate in a Super Bowl Squares game, you'll need a grid like theprintable version seen below.

Each player selects a square by putting in their name or initials to mark the spot. Depending on the type of squares game, players can enter as many times as they like as long as they pay the entry fee per square.

Players will mark the sheet BEFORE numbers are drawn to each side. Once numbers are assigned, the numbers that correspond with your initial are your numbers for the entire game. If the scores go into double digits, the second number (eg. the "3" in "23") would represent your number.

For example, let's say you have "7" on the Rams side, and "3" on the Bengals side. If the score after the first quarter is Rams 7, Bengals 3, then your score wins for that quarter. If the final score is Rams 27, Bengals 23, then you win the fourth quarter.

If the squares sheet has blank spaces and nobody wins after a quarter, the money then rolls over to the next quarter.

Here's a sample payout structure:

  • 1st Quarter - 20%
  • 2nd Quarter - 20%
  • 3rd Quarter - 20%
  • 4th Quarter or Final Score - 40%

Pass the Cup

Similar to the other games, this Super Bowl game can be played a few different ways.

In order to participate, everyone must put in the same amount for an entry fee into a large cup. Once everyone has paid, an order is determined to who gets to hold the cup during the game. The cup is passed around each possession, and whoever ends up in control of the cup at the end of the game is the winner!

Some other way can also be that any time there is a touchdown scored, that person receives a bonus from the cup. For example, if 60% goes to the winner at the end of the game, whoever is holding the cup whenever there's a touchdown in the quarter gets to split the 10% for each quarter.

Whatever betting games you decide to play, remember to enjoy them responsibly!
