Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jump Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl Odds Standings
Now that the dust is beginning to settle from NFL free agency, the oddsmakers are starting to change a few of their opinions.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have jumped the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl odds standings. The Buccaneers moved to +900, jumping the Chiefs at +1000.
Kansas City has notably lost Tyreek Hill after trading him to the Miami Dolphins. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are still there, but as we see now, the days of the Chiefs being the clear favorites are over.
Tampa Bay got a clear boost when Tom Brady decided to un-retire, but this move is a little shocking considering Bruce Arians is no longer the coach. Todd Bowles will likely run the same system as Arians, but losing some stability at head coach would likely be a concern rather than a reason to bump them up.
The only team that remains above the Bucs is the Buffalo Bills, who are the +700 favorites to win it all.
The Buccaneers were stopped in their tracks by the eventual Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round. The Bucs came back from a 27-3 deficit in that game, but allowed Cooper Kupp to get down the field and set the Rams up for a game-winning field goal.
This move is a big one in the odds standings. It makes the Buccaneers the team to beat rather than the defending Super Bowl champs. Even with all the uncertainty around the Bucs’ roster and coaching staff, Tom Brady’s presence is enough to keep the Bucs at the top.
Let’s see if Brady can come out of retirement and pull off yet another Super Bowl title.
