The battle for the starting quarterback job in Denver has officially been decided. The Broncos announced on Wednesday that newly acquired Teddy Bridgewater will start under center over Drew Lock in Week 1 against the New York Giants.

Bridgewater was traded to the Broncos from the Carolina Panthers this offseason in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick. He threw for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with the Panthers last season for a quarterback rating of 92.1.

Many believe the Broncos are a competent quarterback away from a potential playoff team. Drew Lock failed to deliver for them the past two seasons, throwing a league-high 15 interceptions and completing only 57.3% of passes.

Now it’s Bridgewater’s chance to lead the team.

Whether or not you think Teddy Two-Gloves will lead the Broncos to a winning record this season, sports bettors, particularly Broncos bettors should be ecstatic that he has won the starting gig.

Since entering the NFL, Bridgewater has covered the spread in games started at a rate of 72%. His total against-the-spread (ATS) record as a starting quarterback is 36-14, better than any other QB in the league.

WynnBET has the Broncos set as -2.5 favorites in New York against the Giants in Week 1, and they’re an automatic bet for me based on Bridgewater’s spread record alone. Betting on the opening week slate of games is a crapshoot, so there’s no better reason to bet on a team than an eye-popping trend like this.

The Broncos win total for the 2021 season is set at 8.5, with the over now favored at -140. Their odds to make the postseason are set at +155, and they’re -210 favorites to be left on the outside looking in.

If you believe in Bridgewater more than anyone else in the world probably does, you can also bet him to win NFL MVP at +12500 (125/1) odds at WynnBET.
