The Tennessee Titans and Jones will take on the Atlanta Falcons and high-profile rookie Kyle Pitts in Week 1 of the preseason at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

It will be interesting to see the reception that Jones gets back in Atlanta after requesting a trade, but fans and bettors would love to see how he fits with Ryan Tannehill and the offense if Mike Vrabel lets his guys play on Friday.

As for the Falcons, new head coach Arthur Smith, who used to be on Vrabel’s staff in Tennessee, will have his new scheme on full display no matter who is under center, but Matt Ryan has been happy about building his relationship with the new coach.

"Arthur sits in the bulk of our quarterback meetings," Ryan said. "He's there a lot, so he's constantly asking me – he wants to get a feel for me and Feleipe [Franks] and A.J. [McCarron] and how we think and what we like in certain situations. He wants to know how we see things. He has expressed that it's important for him to know how we feel about things and what we're comfortable with.

"He pushes certain things on you, stuff that he likes, but he's also receptive to suggestions. I'm open, too. I like being pushed to find new ways of doing things better and [to] learn new things. I can always find a way to be better than I've been. I'm excited about that part of this process."

Here’s how everything stacks up at WynnBET ahead of Friday’s matchup:

Titans vs. Falcons Spread, Odds and Over/Under

Spread:

Titans -1.0 (-110)

Falcons +1.0 (-110)

Moneyline:

Titans: -115

Falcons: -105

Over/Under: 38.0 (Over: -110/Under: -110)

Falcons vs. Titans Betting Trends

  • Atlanta was 7-9 against the spread last season.
  • Tennessee was 7-10 against the spread last season (includes one playoff game), and just 4-7 as a favorite like it is for Friday’s matchup.
  • Tennessee was the second-best over team in the NFL last season, going 12-4-1.
  • Mike Vrabel’s teams are just 2-6 against the spread in the preseason in his coaching career.

Titans vs. Falcons Prediction and Pick

Both teams struggled against the spread in 2020, but with it set at just one point, I’m inclined to take Atlanta at home at -105 on the moneyline.

While neither team has much of a quarterback situation to look at, both team’s defenses struggled last year as they allowed the fourth (Atlanta) and fifth (Tennessee) most yards in the NFL.

The over at 38.0 may be a stretch, but with the Titans being one of the best over teams in the NFL, it could be worth a shot on Friday.
