Tennessee vs. Alabama Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 8
By Matt De Saro
The Alabama Crimson Tide head back home after a surprisingly tough two-game road trip that saw them drop their first game of the year. That loss came at the hands, or foot as it were, of Texas A&M on a late field goal 41-38. They bounced right back and blew out Mississippi State and appear to back on track to make a run at the College Football Playoff.
Tennessee, meanwhile, suffered a brutal loss to Ole Miss 31-26 at home to fall to 4-3 on the year and third in the SEC East. The Volunteers have not beaten Alabama since 2006 and looked dejected after their latest loss. This is a very tough spot for the Volunteers to even cover a spread inching towards 30 points.

Tennessee vs. Alabama Prediction and Pick
Despite its loss two weeks ago, Alabama has been locked in this season both from a SU and ATS standpoint. The Crimson Tide are 4-3 ATS on the year which is not stunning, but Bama regularly plays games as massive favorites so this is forgivable to me.
The Crimson Tide have played two games this year so far as favorites of 20 or more, one against Mercer and one against Southern Mississippi. They covered the latter with a spread of -45.0 but ‘only’ beat Mercer by 34 with a 54.0 point spread.
On the flip side, Tennessee has failed to cover its one game as double digital underdogs, losing by 24 to Florida. The team was listed as underdogs in three other games this year and covered two. The Volunteers lost by five to Mississippi with a 1.0 point spread and by seven to Pittsburgh with a spread of 3.5.
This game feels like the one where everything falls apart for the Volunteers after last week’s poor showing against Ole Miss. After watching the Crimson Tide lose, and then bounce back in a big way, it is hard to see any way that Tennesee gets much going in this game. While I usually try to shy away from spreads in the 20s, Bama gets the nod this week as Tennessee loses its second in a row and fails to keep things close.
Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide -27.0 (-110)
