Tennessee vs. Mississippi State Prediction and Odds (Back Vols On The Road)
By Matt De Saro
The No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers are coming off a big win over South Carolina, but suffered a major loss along the way. Olivier Nkamhoua, the team’s third-leading scorer, will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious ankle injury that requires surgery. The show must go on, however, and the Volunteers are on the road today to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are coming off a rough loss on the road against Arkansas but present a much tougher test for Tennessee than South Carolina did. It will be interesting to see how the offense will adjust with Nkamhoua out and who, if anyone, steps up to fill in the gaps. Here are the odds for this SEC showdown, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Tennessee vs. Mississippi State Prediction and Pick
Had this game taken place closer to New Year’s, I would be more inclined to take a chance on the Bulldogs to win outright. But, with four losses in their last six games, my faith in them is wavering. Can they turn things around tonight with an upset win? That is a harder question to answer than it seems. The Bulldogs’ offense ranks 95th in the nation in overall scoring and 80th in rebounding. Mississippi State also has an above-average defense that ranks 85th and allows opponents an average of 66.4 PPG.
While those are all fine numbers, what I don’t like is the Bulldogs’ ATS stats. They are 1-3 as an underdog this season while the Volunteers are 3-0 as a favorite on the road. The Volunteers are also 5-2 ATS on the road and 11-6 as a favorite. Mississippi State is 12-1 at home, but I think their luck at the Humphrey Coliseum is about to run out.
Lean: Tennessee -1.5
