Texans vs. 49ers Prediction, Odds, Against Spread and Over/Under for NFL Week 17
By Matt De Saro
The Houston Texans are coming off a very improbable win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16. The win brings their record to 4-11 but they have long been eliminated from playoff contention. So, at this point, they are just playing spoiler and for a bit of pride. They already sniped one of the better teams in the AFC last week and could do the same to the NFC in Week 17.
The San Fransisco 49ers are currently in sixth in the NFC at 8-7 thanks to a tiebreaker over the seventh-place Philadelphia Eagles. At this point, every team above them in the standing has clinched a playoff berth and they want to be next.

Texans vs. 49ers Prediction and Pick
While the Texans were busy upsetting the Chargers, the 49ers were on the wrong end of a game against the Tennesee Titans. The 20-17 loss dropped the 49ers to 8-7 and makes it just a little harder for them to make the playoffs.
Still, they are in the hunt and as long as they win out, will be fine. Jimmy Garoppolo struggled in the loss as he was picked off twice.
Once again, the offense leaned on wide receiver converted to part-time running back Deebo Samuel. Samuel had another phenomenal game last week with 159 yards receiving and 32 yards on the ground. It was the first time in the last six weeks that he did not score a rushing touchdown.
With two games remaining, the 49ers are one game back from the Arizona Cardinals and clinging on to one of the last remaining Wild-Card spots. While I do think they win this game, it’s a whole lot of points for the 49ers to cover, especially after struggling to score against the Titans.
The Texans are coming off a huge upset and will probably have something extra in the tank to start this game. However, I am not going to let myself be swayed by that fluke win. The Texans are still a team that ranks in the bottom five in overall offense and defense. Not to mention they are one of the most penalized teams in the NFL and turn the ball over an average of 1.5 times per game.
With their playoff hopes on the line, I think that the 49ers come out hot and don’t let up until the final whistle blows.
Pick: San Francisco 49ers -14.5 (-110)
