Texans vs. Colts Prediction and Odds for Week 18 (Take Points Between Two Terrible Teams)
By Josh Yourish
It looks like the Houston Texans finally packed it in for the year.
They’ve been frisky for a while and even beat the fading Tennessee Titans in Week 16, but last week they laid down and the Jacksonville Jaguars dominated, 31-3. The Indianapolis Colts didn’t do much better, as the New York Giants pounded them from the opening kick and won 38-10.
The 4-11-1 Colts and 2-13-1 Texans tied back in Week 1, and now they’ll close out the season with nothing on the line but draft position and our bets.
Here are the odds for this AFC South matchup in Week 18.
Texans vs. Colts Odds, Spread and Total
Indianapolis and Houston Betting Trends
- Indianapolis is 6-10 ATS
- Houston is 7-8-1 ATS
- Indianapolis is 7-2 ATS in last nine meetings
Texans vs. Colts Prediction and Pick
The Jeff Saturday experiment has not worked at all, but at least Jim Irsay got to take his victory lap after a 25-20 win over the Raiders back in Week 10.
Since that tweet, the Colts are 0-6. The other high point for Indy was when they took a 33-0 lead over Minnesota in the first half. Since that moment, they’ve been outscored 97-16. This has been a complete disaster in Indy, and they’ll have a clean start next year once they get through one final game. Nick Foles will likely not be the quarterback for that game, so I expect Sam Ehlinger to start for the Colts.
The Texans really aren’t much better, and they certainly don’t want to win this game and lose the right to draft Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. When it comes to two really awful teams in a game like this, I’ll just take the points.
