The Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars will get their first crack at each other this week, with both teams looking to bounce back from losses. The Texans have been in every game they’ve played in. Will this be the week they can get the job done? Or will the Jaguars bounce back and take control of the AFC South?

We could bet on the game straight up, or we could attack it from a props perspective. I’m going to do the latter.

Best Prop Bets For Texans vs. Jaguars Week 5

  • Brandin Cooks OVER 68.5 Receiving Yards
  • James Robinson OVER 61.5 Rushing Yards
  • Marvin Jones to Score a Touchdown

Brandin Cooks OVER 68.5 Receiving Yards

I’m always going to back Brandin Cooks as he is the clear top receiver in Houston. He sees at least seven targets per game and that volume is key when it comes to betting on him. Also, Houston is winless right now. They are likely going to be down in this game and be throwing to stay in it as seven-point underdogs. Cooks is often going to have a favorable game script, so let’s back him.

James Robinson OVER 61.5 Rushing Yards

Up until last week, Robinson had been spectacular this season. He had scored in every game, accounted for at least 60 yards and was taking over the RB1 spot. That’s what I expect him to get back to this week. The Jaguars only gave him 8 carries last week against a stout Philly defense. This week, against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league, Robinson should thrive.

Marvin Jones to Score a Touchdown

Jones only saw one target last week, but that’s not the important metric for me. He played 91% of the snaps against the Eagles. He’s played at least 80% of the snaps in three of the four games this season. The Texans are 21st in the league in opponent yards per pass, so there’s a chance Jones gets going with the deep ball that results in a touchdown.
