The Texas A&M Aggies are off to a hot start this season with a perfect 4-0 record, and now find themselves facing the Wisconsin Badgers today in the Maui Invitational Tournament. It’s a battle between the SEC and Big Ten in Round 1 action.

The Aggies come into this game as the “away” team off a blowout win over Houston Baptist at home last Wednesday. Quenton Jackson and Tyrece Radford each scored 13 points in the lopsided victory.

Meanwhile, the Badgers are 2-1 coming off a loss to Providence 63-58 heading into Sin City for this tournament. Brad Davison and Tyler Wahl led the scoring for Wisconsin with 25 and 16 points respectively. Davidson has been this team’s best player so far in three games averaging 16.0 PPG and 1.3 dimes.

Texas A&M vs. Wisconsin Prediction and Pick

Both of these teams play well on defense, but the Badgers have the edge on the Aggies. Wisconsin has the eighth-ranked defense in terms of points allowed and gives up just 51.7 per contest. That number is skewed a little due to their destruction of Houston Baptist, but stats don’t lie. Texas A&M had a very close call, however, beating Abilene Chrisitan by just one point to remain undefeated.

The Badgers rank sixth in the same category, allowing just 51.7 PPG to opponents. Wisconsin, to their credit, held the St. Francis Terriers to 58 points and the Green Bay Phoenix to 34 but coughed up 63 to providence.

Wisconsin needs to find a way to score more points to go along with their staunch defense but that won’t solve their problems tonight. The Badgers struggle with consistency from the field and rank 165th in PPG and 322nd in APG. They are shooting 43.2% from the field and 26.6% from deep and need to find a scoring threat to remain competitive in the Big Ten.

Until the Badgers get their offense going, they are too hard to trust against quality opponents like the Aggies. Texas A&M as underdogs present a solid value for Monday afternoon.
