The Texas Southern Tigers and Alcorn State Braves navigated the rest of the SWAC to make it here and face off tonight at Bartow Arena in Alabama. The Tigers are the No. 2 seed in the tournament and have taken the SWAC title in three of the last four years.

The oddsmakers had it right by setting the No. 2 Tigers as the odds on favorite when the pre-tournament odds were released. Alcorn was the third highest team on the board despite earning the top seed in the tournament. This is despite the fact that Alcorn State went 2-0 against the Tigers during the regular season. Both were very tight games, but a win is a win-- and two wins are even better.
There is a lot riding on this game, including a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. I don’t think the Tigers make the same mistakes they did before. Their defense is just too good to get beat by this team for a third straight time. The Tigers have the 54th best scoring offense in the nation and 16th in opponent effective field goal percentage. This should be more than enough to slow down the Braves’ 265th ranked offense. The offense just needs to do their part and the Tigers should get that revenge win and take home the title. Ranked 217th, their offense isn't elite by any stretch, but they have more than enough talent to send Alcon State home with a loss.
