After a six-straight wins to start the season, the Kansas Jayhawks slipped up on Friday against Tennessee and lost 64-50. Jalen Wilson has stepped up as their offensive leader after returning from the National Championship team a year ago, but he was unable to carry his team on that night. Now, they’ll get Texas Southern who has played an absolute gauntlet of a schedule so far this year.

The Texas Southern Tigers are 1-6, but they have played Texas Tech, Houston and Auburn as ranked opponents. Their lone win of the year came over Arizona State.

I expect the Jayhawks to bounce back, but so does Vegas with a very big spread. Let’s check out the odds and I’ll tell you how I’m betting this game.

Texas Southern vs. Kansas Odds, Spread and Total

Texas Southern vs. Kansas Prediction and Pick

Kansas has not exactly been blowing teams out this year. Nov. 10 was the team's last 20-point win and it came against North Dakota State. Since then even Southern Utah played the Jayhawks close.

The Jayhawks offense really sputtered in their final two games of the Battle 4 Atlantis with an 69-68 OT win over Wisconsin and their 50-point performance against Tennessee. They are a team without many offensive options outside of Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick, so with tired legs their shooting fell off.

Texas Southern made it to the NCAA Tournament last year and lost to Kansas in a 1-16 matchup, 83-56. This Texas Southern team is much worse than last year and I’m sure they’re very tired of playing top ranked teams prior to conference play.

Kansas needed to rest up and get fresh legs after the Battle 4 Atantis, and I think this is the perfect opportunity for it to get the bad taste out of their mouth from the final game of the tournament.

Pick: Kansas -23.5 (-110)
