We have an interesting non conference matchup in Raleigh between two undefeated clubs, who has the edge?

North Carolina State bounced back after squeaking out a win against East Carolina by blowing out Charleston Southern. Now, they welcome Texas Tech to Carter-Finley Stadium in Week 3 action ahead of the start of ACC play.

The Red Raiders escaped with a win against Houston at home in overtime and now must turn their sights to a top 20 team, can first year head coach Joey McGuire get the team up for this one as double digit underdogs?

Let's check out the odds and find the best bet:

Texas Tech vs. North Carolina State Odds, Spread and Total

Texas Tech vs. North Carolina State Betting Trends

  • North Carolina State is 15-14 against the spread (ATS) as a home favorite of double digits under Dave Doeren
  • North Carolina State is 32-28-1 to the UNDER with Dave Doeren as head coach
  • Texas Tech went OVER in both games this season

Texas Tech vs. North Carolina State Prediction and Pick

This line seems correct, but I lean towards the under in this matchup.

Texas Tech may have gone over in both games this season, but the Houston game needed overtime to get over by a half point, 33-30. That matchup was an under game all the way, but defensive touchdowns and late scores helped send it over.

Now, against a top 10 defense in the Wolfpack, I expect Donovan Smith to struggle on the road. He was sacked six times against a stout Houston defensive line, and NC State mirrors that talent in the trenches.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech defense did a fine job against Clayton Tune and could limit the explosive plays from Devin Leary and the Wolfpack offense. Last season, the team played at a bottom 30 tempo in the country and this season is playing right around the national average.

Texas Tech kept down an explosive Houston offense, allowing 20 points in regulation to the Cougars, and I think we see a something like a 31-20 NC State victory on Saturday.
