Texas vs. Kansas Prediction and Odds for College Football Week 12 (Back Jayhawks With Daniels' Possible Return)
By Josh Yourish
It’s 2022 and Texas is still not back. The Longhorns had a chance to make a statement last week, but a disappointing 17-10 loss to TCU leaves Steve Sarkisian’s team at 6-4. Things could go from bad to worse though this week as they face off with the 6-4 Kansas Jayhawks. Lance Leipold’s team got off to a great start to the year with Jalon Daniels at quarterback and they might be getting him back this week.
If the Jayhawks have their QB on the field, they might be a live underdog at home against the Longhorns, so let’s take a look at the odds.
Texas vs. Kansas Odds, Spread and Total
KU and Texas Betting Trends
- KU is 7-2-1 ATS
- Texas is 6-4 ATS
- The Over is 6-4 in KU games
- Texas is 4-0 ATS in last four games following a SU loss
- The Under is 4-0 in KU’s last four home games
- KU is 5-0 ATS in last five meeting with Texas
Texas vs. Kansas Prediction and Pick
Jason Bean was forced to take over the 5-0 Jayhawks when Daniels was injured against TCU. They are 1-4 with Bean at QB even though his numbers don’t look bad. Bean has thrown for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, he has also run for four scores and thrown four picks. Their only win in that stretch came two weeks ago against Oklahoma State.
Texas hasn’t been a lot better and they’ve had their quarterback, Quin Ewers, for much of the year. Last week, Ewers missed a lot of throws and only went 17-for-39 for 171 yards and an interception against TCU’s 88th ranked pass defense.
If Daniels can play, then the Jayhawks have an advantage at the most important position on the field. I think that is definitely enough for Kansas to cover and maybe even win at home. Texas is typically one of the more overvalued teams in the betting market and Kansas has been undervalued all season, so I’ll take the points early in the week and monitor the Daniels situation.
Pick: Kansas +9.5 (-110)
