Texas vs Stanford Prediction and Odds: Should Longhorns be on Upset Alert?
By Matt De Saro
The Pac-12 Coast to Coast Challenge tips off this afternoon when the No. 17 Texas Longhorns and Stanford Cardinal clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City.
The Cardinal come off back-to-back wins but they were very close and against teams of lesser skill than the Longhorns. The victories came on the heels of a loss to Colorado and were at the expense of Oregon and Dartmouth. Despite winning, they failed to cover their last game as 14-point favorites to the Big Green and have are 2-7 ATS so far this season.
The offense is led by Jaiden Delaire; racking up 20 points in each of the team’s previous two wins and is averaging 12.6 points per game. Harrison Ingram has made a strong contribution too with 29 combined points in his last two games.
The Longhorns also have some momentum at their backs after beating down Arkansas-Pine Bluff 63-31 at home on Tuesday night. However, they failed to cover the massive 35-point spread. That game drops their ATS record to 4-5 on the year. The team does have two losses this year but they were to Seton Hall and Gonzaga. Those teams feature a much higher quality of play than the Cardinal can muster up. So, can Stanford hang on and keep this game within 10?

Texas vs. Stanford Prediction and Pick
The Longhorns have had a strong start to the season but that might be due to their unusually weak schedule. Aside from the two games they lost, Texas has played some of the least threatening teams the nation has to offer including UNCO, CBU, and UAPB. What makes this worrisome is that they aren’t covering in these games at a rate that makes me confident to bet them. Winning against bad teams is one thing but the Longhorns are not winning convincingly against these tier three opponents.
The Longhorns have also struggled in games away from home with an 0-2 SU and ATS record away from the Erwin Events Center.
This feels like a trap game and I’ll be taking a shot on the Cardinal as underdogs to cover here in a hard-fought loss.
Pick: Stanford Cardinal +10 (-110)
