Happy Thanksgiving to all our wonderful readers and followers!
As family arrives, and eventually more and more food and adult beverages are consumed, the bets for today's games will start flowing. Fortunately, all three Thanksgiving matchups feature several noteworthy betting trends that we'll highlight here.
Each of our betting plays, best prop bets, anytime touchdown scorer selections and more for the Thanksgiving slate is available on our NFL Expert Picks and Predictions page.
Below are our favorite betting trends for all three games and every team on the slate:
GAME 1
Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions Betting Trends and Odds
Bills:
The Bills are just 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) this year, but they've still been dominant when they do win and cover. Buffalo owns the NFL's best margin-of victory numbers not just this year (+10.7), but going all the way back to the 2019 season.
Furthermore, since 2004, favorites have dominated the Thursday games for the last 18 years.
Lions:
Detroit has been more hot and cold than a Katy Perry single.
After starting the season 3-0 ATS, they promptly dropped four straight, followed by three more victories vs. the number.
Since the 1990 season, Detroit has won a total of three games in 21 tries on Thanksgiving, covering in just seven of them. They've been very gracious hosts during that span, going 0 for 14 straight up during the holiday as an underdog.
GAME 2
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Trends and Odds
Giants:
Despite now being on the board as a double-digit road underdog, the Giants have actually thrived in these spots.
Brian Daboll's squad is 5-1-0 STRAIGHT UP as an underdog this year, and are 2-0 SU coming off a loss the week before.
Cowboys:
America's team has already seen their number move from -8.5 at home all the way up to a double-digit favorite at -10. If you plan to fade the 'Boys, it might be worth holding off as the public continues to throw money on Dallas.
VIa Scott Barrett, the Cowboys have covered just one time in their last 11 Thanksgiving Day matchups, with the latest coming in 2018 as a seven-point favorite.
GAME 3
New England Patriots vs. Minnesota Vikings Betting Trends and Odds
Patriots:
Since allowing 33 points to the Chicago Bears in Week 5, the Patriots have only allowed 23 points in total over their last three games.
That Bears game is also the lone matchup New England failed to cover in their last seven games.
Vikings:
It's all about favorites and unders in the Thursday triple-header slate of games, which benefits Minnesota in this spot.
CBS Sports Network's Katie Mox shared a video earlier on Wednesday, highlighting favorites have gone UNDER 11 out of 15 times Thanksgiving primetime matchups.
Even more relavent? Favorites remain an incredible betting trend in the In the late window on Thursday night matchups, going 13-2 over the last 15 matchups.
Thursday Night Football Thanksgiving primetime games since 2006, including in seven straight have also played to the under.
As for Kirk Cousins, the primetime game numbers are rough, 10-18 straight up and 11-17 ATS, but he's also been the best quarterback for bettors following a loss. Via Evan Abrams, Cousins is 33-17 ATS after a SU loss, making him the most profitable quarterback in the league in this area since 2015.
