The Atlanta Falcons Are the Worst Team in the NFL
We’re one week into the season and I’m already declaring the Atlanta Falcons the worst team in the National Football League.
I’ve been cheering for this team since 2004 and they’ve done nothing but cause me heartbreak. Their Week 1 performance was disgusting, appalling, and quite frankly, made me feel sick. Their offensive line can’t block, their completely vulnerable on one side of the field on defense, and Arthur Smith may not be the coach we were all hoping he would be.
All offseason, I was boldly claiming that the Houston Texans were the worst team in the league and that they might go 0-17, well now I’m pretty confident in saying it’s the Falcons that are the worst team instead.
They’ll face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12 in the toilet bowl game. The loser will have the first overall pick in the draft.
The Falcons are now massive 12.5-point underdogs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their Week 2 game. Their odds to win the NFC South have now dropped all the way down to +2500, which is last among all four teams.
Falcons Offensive Line is an Insult to the Position
People, especially Falcons fans for some reason, love to rag on former MVP Matt Ryan. People were begging the Falcons to select Justin Fields fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft when the team ended up selecting tight end Kyle Pitts.
I was one of the only voices out there who wanted them to take an offensive lineman instead. I don’t know why people haven’t understood yet that while lineman aren’t exactly a sexy position, they’re absolutely fundamental to a team’s success.
Falcons guard Jalen Mayfield was given the worst score ever by an offensive lineman in Week 1 against the Eagles. This is not Matt Ryan’s fault.
One Side of the Falcons Defense is Wide Open
Jalen Hurts tore up this Falcons defense in Week 1, I’m afraid to find out what Tom Brady is going to do to it.
A.J. Terrell is the only competent cornerback on the team, and that’s displayed by the Eagles passing chart from Week 1. They attacked the right side of the field the entire game, and that’s where Jalen Hurts found success.
The Falcons may lose every single game this season, but at least they aren’t blowing 20-point halftime leads every week, I guess?
