Is it too late to say sorry if you're LeBron James?

After hanging with the Denver Nuggets for most of the first half, James and the L.A. Lakers scored a combined 36 points in the second half en route to a 133-96 thumping on the road. James scored 25 points and added in nine rebounds in 31 minutes, but it was nowhere near enough to keep L.A. in the game as they lost their third straight game.

The Lakers are now a game under .500 at 21-22, and would be the 7-seed in the NBA Play-In Round of the playoffs if the season were to end today.

The embarrassing defeat prompted the superstar to send an apology message out to his 50.6 million followers on Twitter, vowing the team will give a better effort moving forward.

Lakers Should Bounce Back Monday Night vs. the Jazz

LeBron may have picked a perfect time to kick off his 2022 "Apology Tour" when they host the Utah Jazz on Monday night as 5-point underdogs over at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Before their 125-102 win on Sunday in Denver, the Jazz had lost four straight games. Rudy Gobert has just returned from his stint on the COVID-19 list, but their backup center Hassan Whiteside; along with Jared Butler and Elijah Hughes remain out.

The Lakers have only been home underdogs three times this year, going 1-2-0 ATS, but bettors should expect a far more inspired performance this time around. Utah has gone 3-4-0 ATS on the second game of back-to-backs and are still looking to get their timing and rhythm back with their roster. While there's no indication that Gobert might sit, it would be surprising if he plays heavy minutes especially coming back from COVID while playing the first game in the altitude in Denver.

As for James, it's hard to fault his performance for his team's lack of success. Over his last five games, LeBron is averaging 31.4 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, while shooting over 50% from field goal range.
