The Match Odds and Prediction: Curry and Thompson vs. Mahomes and Kelce
We're officially in the dog days of summer, but that just means we have less-serious events to bet on, which can actually be more fun.
One of those being the latest edition of "The Match", which is set to take place on Thursday night.
It's the eighth edition of the golf event, but for just the second time it won't feature any professional golfers. This time around it will be a battle between two sets of teammates. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors will take on Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs tonight.
It's NBA vs. NFL, so how should we handle betting on this game? Well, let's dive into it.
Can You Bet on The Match?
Being able to bet on The Match depends on if you live in a state that allows it. For some states, such as New York, it's against regulations to bet on exhibition events such as this.

The Match Prediction
Both Steph Curry and Patrick Mahomes have competed once in "The Match" already. Curry, alongside Peyton Manning, lost to Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley back in November of 2020. Mahomes is also 0-1 in The Match. He and Josh Allen lost to Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady in June of last year.
You're probably wondering why the Warriors teammates are such big favorites tonight. Well, it's simple. Curry is a phenomenal golfer. He enters today's event with a +1 handicap, which is in the top percentile of amateur golfers.
Mahomes is a solid golfer in his own right, but he isn't close to as good with a handicap of 7.7.
To be fair, reports indicate that Kelce is the slightly better teammate. His handicap comes in at around an 11 while Thompson's is around a 15, but that won't matter much. Curry's handicap makes him the outlier of the bunch and unless he's off his game, he should carry Klay to a win.
Listen, it's a 12-hole scramble so anything could theoretically happen, but I still think there's great value on Curry and Thompson to get the job done at -265.
Prediction: Curry/Thompson -265
