This AL East OVER/UNDER Betting Trend Is Shocking

The American League East has traditionally been one of the powerhouse divisions in the Major Leagues. With teams like the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox, it’s easy to see why.

These teams trot out big bats almost every year and make this division incredibly exciting. The Baltimore Orioles are also in this division but they haven’t had a winning season since 2016 and are certainly the Black Sheep of this group.

But, 2022 has been a bit different for this crew. No, the Orioles are still terrible. But, it seems like they might be spreading their inability to hit the rest of the division. Like some kind of awful contagious disease. While that is not likely the case, there is truth to the fact that the AL East is not hitting right now.

In fact, the entire AL East has been an UNDER bettors' dream. Let’s start at the bottom with the Baltimore Orioles. Now, I knew they were going to have a bad offense to start the year but this is ridiculous. Baltimore has done something I have never seen before. They have managed a perfect record for the UNDER at 0-9-1. They have hit the OVER in zero percent of their games through the first couple of weeks. While that is astounding, it's the Orioles so whatever.

But, the second-worst team at hitting over bets is the New York Yankees. The so-called “Bronx Bombers” are 2-8 on the total The Rays are 4-7, the Red Sox 4-6, and the Blue Jays 4-5.

This means that not a single AL East team is better than .500 in OVERs so far this year.

While this is somewhat shocking, it has been the overall trend so far this year in baseball. As of Tuesday, there are only seven teams in the entire MLB with records north of .500 for OVERs. Two are at .500 and the rest of the league is below that mark.

Just something to consider the next time you are betting the OVER in a game. Especially one featuring NL East teams.
