This Baker Mayfield Quote is Sure to Piss Off Browns Fans
By Peter Dewey
Cleveland Browns fans seems to fall into two groups: Those who love quarterback Baker Mayfield for helping turn the franchise around, and those who think he's now holding the team back from taking the next step.
Well, in this case, both sides of that argument can probably agree they don't like what Mayfield said about Browns fans today.
During the Browns' narrow 13-10 win over the Lions yesterday, some fans booed Mayfield, but the quarterback doesn't really care what they think and fired back during his Monday press conference.
Clearly Mayfield is trying to deliver his own message through the media today, and he does have a point. There were moments during yesterday's game when Mayfield was frustrated with the fans for being loud when the team was on offense. This is his way of telling them to pipe down. But it's never a good look anytime a franchise QB is taking shots at the fan base.
Personally, I think the Browns have to applaud the quarterback for playing through several painful injuries to try and will the Browns into the playoff picture this season. The Browns' win over the Lions was an ugly one, but it did move the team back over .500.
Mayfield wasn't great on Sunday, completing just 15 of his 29 passes for 176 yards one score and two picks. Still, the Browns came away with the win. Some Cleveland fans still aren't happy with their quarterback.
Maybe Mayfield thrives off the hate, but this is a weird dynamic for a franchise that looked like it was on the rise after last season's impressive finish.
The Browns are 4.5-point underdogs at WynnBET for their Week 12 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
