What has happened to the Kansas City Chiefs?

Yes, Kansas City is only 2-3 and has lost to tough opponents in the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills, but when you’re the preseason favorite at WynnBET to win the Super Bowl, those are games you are expected to win.

The Chiefs have not looked themselves offensively, but a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that Kansas City’s defense has allowed the second-most yards in the NFL and the most points (163) this season.

However, the offense has turned the ball over a concerning number of times, including three in the loss to Buffalo, which makes it hard to believe in the Chiefs right now until one of the problems is fixed.

Yikes. Patrick Mahomes has already thrown six interceptions this season to go with his league-best 16 touchdowns, but he only threw six picks all of 2020.

Kansas City’s defense has forced the offense to play ultra-aggressive at times, and when you’re trailing in games, you’re naturally going to throw the ball more.

The defense has been the weakness for Kansas City, but it has been so bad that the offense is beginning to look mortal again. The Chiefs can’t keep putting the burden on Mahomes and company to hang 40 points every week if they want to compete for a Super Bowl.

KC is still in last in the AFC West, and even with the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders stumbling, the rest of the AFC still has been able to gain ground on the Chiefs during this slide.

Poor defense and a lot of turnovers is a recipe for disaster, and Andy Reid’s ball club is learning the hard way early in the 2021 season.
