With the NCAA Men's and Women's Tournaments less than a month away, we're headed down the final stretch of the regular season before conference tournaments pick up and seeds are awarded.

This year, there have been plenty of mid-major squads that have handled their business both in conference play, as well as out of conference; showing up against some of the big boys in Power 5 land.

It's become less of a surprise to see a mid-major make the Final Four, but oddsmakers at WynnBET are still offering some of the lesser-known schools to the betting public available at nice prices.

Here are three schools with odds of 20/1 or larger that I think can make a run to the Final Four in New Orleans this year.

3 Mid Major Teams to Bet to Make the Final Four

  • Colorado State (+2000)
  • Loyola Chicago (+2000)
  • Iona (+5000)

Colorado State Odds to Make the Final Four (+2000)

The Rams went through a little mini-rough stretch in late January with two touch losses vs. UNLV followed by an overtime loss at Wyoming, a top-40 KenPom team in their own right. But they're back to playing excellent basketball with a top 16 adjusted efficiency offense in the country.

Head coach Niko Medved has seen consistent improvement from every year he's been in charge at CSU, with year four being their best ever in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, effective field goal percentage, turnovers given up, and three point percentage.

Also, the Rams make their free throws at the ninth-best rate in the country; shooting 79.1% from the charity stripe. Smart offense mixed with made foul shots and no costly turnovers could make for a nice run.

Loyola Chicago Odds to Make the Final Four (+2000)

Like Colorado State, I'm a believer in Loyola's commitment to running a really smooth, efficient offense. They're top 30 in adjusted efficiency, top 5 in EFG%, and when they get inside the paint, they don't miss easy buckets; hitting 57% of their two point shots.

First-year head coach Drew Valentine hasn't skipped a beat taking over for Porter Moser after leaving for Oklahoma. They still own the second-best defense in the Missouri Valley, while leading the conference in shooting from both inside and outside three-point range.

I have some concerns about the Ramblers only shooting 71.2% from the free throw line, especially if they have to close out against more longer, athletic teams when trying to get to their spots in the paint, but at +2000 odds, this feels like a reasonable number for a veteran team that's been there before with the 29th-most experienced roster in the league.

Iona Odds to Make the Final Four (+5000)

Rick Pitino's Gaels have the inside track at the MAAC title, leading a somewhat fraudulent Siena squad by two games in the standings. Other than a two game losing streak a few weeks ago in conference play, Iona has been consistent on both ends of the floor. They rank tops in the conference in adjusted offensive efficiency, second in defense, and also force the second-most turnovers in the league.

Iona plays fast, but not out of control on offense, while also being able to get back and force turnovers on defense, leading to easy baskets. They also possess really good size for a mid-major, led by Nelly Junior Joseph at 6-9, 240 pounds who is a force inside and is second in the MAAC in block shot percentage.

The Gaels are experienced with one of the top coaches in the league on the sidelines. I'll take a swing at 50/1 odds with that play.
