The golf world is waiting for the announcement, and the betting market has reacted.

Upon the news that Tiger Woods played a practice round at August National Golf Club on Tuesday, his odds to win the Masters next week have taken off. After sitting at +8000 earlier this week, Woods is now +4000 at WynnBET Sportsbook.

The 46-year-old has not officially announced that he is playing just yet, but there is a ton of momentum behind him playing next weekend, as indicated in the swift line movement.

Woods hasn't played on the PGA Tour since the 2020 Masters after suffering severe leg injuries in a car accident on February 23rd, 2021. While he has begun to make appearances and play in father-son tournaments with his son, Charlie, he hasn't been on Tour.

He is a five time Masters winner, the second most ever, and would love to make a triumphant return to Augusta National. However, it is tough to expect him to compete for a sixth green jacket given the long layoff and serious injuries he sustained in the accident.

While many may be flocking to bet Woods, who won the 2020 event, this number is not worth betting given the fact that he hasn't played competitively in 2 years as the event tees off.

It's a nice story, but the odds being cut in half is a sucker's bet. Stay away from Woods at Augusta and enjoy the fact that the greatest golfer of all time is healthy and able to hopefully get out there and compete.
