Tiger Woods made a miraculous comeback this year, competing again just a year after being involved in a near-fatal car crash.
Not only did he compete, but he made the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Unfortunately, his nagging injuries from the accident forced him to withdraw after the third round of the PGA Championship, and it's effected his play into the weekend of both events.
As a result, he announced on Twitter today that he has withdrawn from next weeks US Open, in order to heal in time to compete at this year's Open Championship at St. Andrew's.
I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the @usopengolf as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf. I do hope and plan to be ready to play in Ireland at @JPProAm and at @TheOpen next month. I’m excited to get back out there soon!

Tiger Woods Odds to Win Open Championship
Since his next professional event is likely going to be the Open, let's take a look at his odds to win the event, courtesy of WynnBET.

It's no real surprise to fans who have been paying attention to him since his return. He has stated that his main focus is going to be competing at Majors moving forward, and he especially wants to compete at this year's Open due to it being held at St. Andrew's.
He's gone on record saying that St. Andrew's is his favorite course in the world, and it was where he won both the 2000 and 2005 Open.
Also, he likely knows that he doesn't have much of a chance to compete at the US Open. The style of course that the USGA sets up relies on distance, and that's not his game anymore. He may still be able to compete at the Augusta's and St. Andrew's of the world, but US Opens are a whole different story.
Sad not to have Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open but makes a ton of sense he's not playing — it's the most taxing tournament and him hacking it from thick rough doesn't seem like a recipe for success right now. This should give him the best chance to ramp up prep for St. Andrews.
