As a person named Joe, I'm no stranger to battles for "First Name supremacy". It's fitting then, that we're got a war of the Tylers as the 12-6 Los Angeles Dodgers host the 6-12 Detroit Tigers tonight at 10:10 PM EST.

In one corner, Tyler Alexander hopes to snap Detroit's five-game losing streak. He has a 7.20 ERA across 10 innings in three starts this season and is coming off a five-run disaster against the Rockies.

In the other corner, Tyler Anderson aims to build off an impressive start to the campaign in which he's compiled a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings of work.

Which Tyler will reign supreme? Can Mr. Anderson keep the Tigers bats quiet or will Mr. Alexander get it done on the road?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find some value in this Tigers vs Dodgers matchup:

Tigers vs. Dodgers Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Tigers: +1.5 (-105)
  • Dodgers: -1.5 (-115)

Moneyline:

  • Tigers: +200
  • Dodgers: -230

Total:

  • 8.5 (Over +100/Under -120)

Tigers vs. Dodgers Prediction and Pick

Detroit's offense is sputtering and things won't get any easier today against Tyler Anderson. The Tigers have scored just nine runs combined in their last five games and Anderson has yet to allow more than two earned runs in a start this year.

With a 98th-percentile ranking in average exit velocity and a 90th-percentile score in chase rate, Anderson is preventing hard contact while generating a ton of swings and misses. The Dodgers' have the MLB's second-lowest bullpen ERA too, so their relievers are in excellent form.

Tyler Alexander, on the other hand, was excellent in spring training but has struggled in his first two starts of the year. He gave up eight hits and five earned runs in just 3.2 innings against the Rockies in his most recent outing, and now he faces a Dodgers offense eager to take out their frustrations after losing a series to the Diamondbacks.

While Alexander has been poor, the Tigers actually have the third-lowest bullpen ERA this year, just behind Los Angeles. I expect the Dodgers to win by multiple runs but think the game will be low-scoring. The under is 7-1 in Los Angeles' last eight and we should see that trend continue.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-115) and Under 8.5 (-120)
